Critical Thinking

Description

Critical thinking is the ability to make logical and well-reasoned decisions, based on arguments and conclusions which can be supported by evidence. It is the ability to think clearly and rationally, ask questions to search for and find related facts, evaluate the evidence, and make imaginative, reasoned, and defensible decisions, decisions which the decision-maker can defend and stand behind with confidence. It encompasses the ability to make decisions by tapping into the knowledge of others and expanding the range of solutions available.

In this course, students explore the tools necessary to become an inventive, logical decision-maker. They learn to apply a structured approach to dismantling complex problems and learn how to clarify problems in terms of objectives and issues. They learn how to apply these tools and techniques under duress or difficult situations, and how to deal with their own biases during decision making.
