Project Closure & Lesson Learned for Project Leaders & Managers
Description
Project closure is the last phase of finalizing all activities for the project management process (project, phase, contract). The key benefits of this process are the project or phase information is archived, the planned work is completed, and organizational team resources are released to pursue new endeavors (PMBOK® Guide).
Project closure involves handing over the deliverables to your customer, passing the documentation to the business, cancelling supplier contracts, releasing staff and equipment, and informing stakeholders of the closure of the project.
The objectives of closing a project process are to: Verify user acceptance of the project's products; Ensure that products can be supported after the project is disbanded; Review the performance of the project.
Project closure activities ensure the recording of project documents, archiving in organizational process assets, making final payments, releasing resources and completing the project.
Lessons learned are the documented information that reflects both the positive and negative experiences of a project. They represent the organization's commitment to project management excellence and the project manager's opportunity to learn from the actual experiences of others. Visit Course Website
